FORTE Sharping Levers

FORTE Sharping Levers ⋆

Introducing the FORTE harp sharping lever

The Forte lever is a newer take on older style levers. An American made lever made of anodized 7075 Aluminum, brass and stainless steel hardware, they produce great sound with minimal weight, and solid reliability. Made of materials resistant to temperature, corrosion and flaking, they can stand up to all the environments you would ever take a harp. Weighing only 4 grams, as compared to other levers weighing 8-20 grams, they can save over a pound in weight on larger harps. Only 3 different sizes are needed to work on all string materials, diameters, and lengths to accommodate all your lever needs. Available in Gold or Silver Anodized aluminum so you can choose the best color to match your other harp hardware or taste. Blue and Red handles are available at no extra cost.

Lever installation and adjustment:

Lever handle tension can be adjusted with a T8 L Style Torx Wrench and .035” L Hex Key. There is a tiny jam set screw inside the lever that keeps the handle in the proper tension without becoming loose. To adjust it you first tighten or loosen the T8 screw with the T8 wrench. Then using the .035” hex key you reach in and tighten the jam set screw again firmly. Check the feel of the lever and repeat till you are happy with the results. The lever should maintain the same tension with multiple flips. If not, then readjust and retighten the set screw until it does. The lever comes with blue Loctite thread lock installed to aid the lever screws from not loosening with use. It does not affect readjusting the tension, and more can be added if later if necessary.

Installing the lever on the harp. We suggest using a #50 drill bit for use with the provided T8 stainless installation screws. No tap is needed. Depending on the hardness of the neck wood, you may need to ream a little more or change the diameter of the bit. A little wax on the threads of the screw will also make for easier installation. We suggest installing the 2 screws diagonal from each other in the slots. There is enough play in the slots that the lever can be slid up or down and slightly sideways if necessary. Most of the final adjustment can be done with adjusting the bridge pin height.
